myAlaska Vision
myAlaska is a system for Secure Single Sign-on and Signature for Citizens, or, an
authentication and electronic signature system allowing citizens to interact with
multiple State of Alaska services through a single username and password.
myAlaska has been created to:
- make electronic interaction with State government easier
- deliver a seamless online eGovernment experience to Alaskans
-
provide assurance in online transactions that the customer is who they claim to
be
-
provide a foundation for more sophisticated electronic "trust" services such as
transaction integrity and confidentiality
Participation in myAlaska is voluntary.
The myAlaska enrollment process allows you to choose your own myAlaska username
and password, and asks questions about your most recent PFD and your Alaska driver license
or Alaska ID card in order to confirm your identity. To complete enrollment you
must also accept the terms of the
myAlaska User Agreement
.
Once enrolled, you will be able to access multiple online state services with a
single identity, and self-administer certain personal data in your profile, including
password, telephone number, and addresses.
Other pertinent points regarding myAlaska:
-
myAlaska is not a public white pages service. There will be no public access for
the purposes of searching or browsing for information regarding other residents.
There will be no searching or browsing by state employees except through access
control policies set by the myAlaska Steering Committee and in conformance with
the
myAlaska Privacy Policy
. No myAlaska participant will have any access to
another person's records. The authentication system will maintain audit logs adequate
to verify that administrators and privileged applications are not using the system
inappropriately.
-
myAlaska is a voluntary system and your myAlaska identity and profile is under your
control. As a myAlaska participant you may choose to "subscribe" to specific state
agency systems. A subscription will cause myAlaska to share your profile information
with that particular state agency system. However, unsubscribed state systems will
have no access to your myAlaska identity or profile. For example, you may choose
to subscribe to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division's online PFD application system
to use myAlaska for electronic signature. You may choose not to subscribe to the
Department of Transportation's Marine Highway Reservation System, which may use
myAlaska to maintain user profiles. In this example, the PFD application system
could use your profile to pre-fill online forms and electronically sign transactions,
but the Marine Highway Reservation System would not recognize your myAlaska identity
or have access to your profile.
myAlaska is the necessary first step towards a consistent and coherent eGovernment
strategy for Alaska. myAlaska will enable Alaskans to conduct business with the
state in a secure and efficient manner and will be the foundation for a wide array
of personalized government-on-demand services that will usher in the next stage
of eGovernment evolution in our state.
